Email Last Minute Checklist

email marketing last minute checklist Before you click on "Send Campaign Now", do a quick run through of the following checklist:

  1. Run a test message. Doing this will make sure that you picked the right logo and placed it in the right position; that all your web links are working; that you got your linebreaks in the right place, etc. Sometimes you wont see small errors until you actually send yourself the email.
  2. 3rd party Proof Read. Get a colleague to proof read your email - this will help to pick up any typographical errors that you are missing because you've been looking at the message too long!, or grammar that you might understand but might cause your message to be ambiguous to someone else.
  3. Targeted. If you can ensure that you are sending your message only to those contacts it is relevant too, then you will achieve a much better response, and your future emails will be more likely to be opened. For example, don't send a free offer for anyone who has over 5,000 loyalty points to people who don't have that many points! Use the "category" and "add by searching" options to choose targeted contacts for your campaign.
  4. Personalisation. Make sure you have chosen the right personalisation fields and included them in your message. If you mainly have 'firstname' data in your contacts, don't use the salutation field in your message!
  5. Tracked URL. If you are tracking a URL in your message, make sure that it is recorded in your campaign details, and that you have used the #tracked_url# personalisation field inside your message, in place of where that URL should appear (and as many times as you like).

Happy emailing!
