Issue 70:   Oct / Nov 14            Training for a healthy Mind, Body & Wallet!

Dear ,

While the words business and regular newsletter conjure up images for me of professionalism, there's also an element of detachment, of something not personal. So with this last newsletter before the festive season I'd like to share a personal story with you. There is an ulterior motive though. I hope by sharing some of myself you'll feel more comfortable asking me questions and letting me know about you. Because ultimately I want you to have financial fitness, meaning you have no financial stress and are on track for your retirement nest egg (check www.moneysmart.gov.au for what you need).

So this story is an insight into the last 12 months of my life as the Tree change unfolds. It's part of the Australian Broadcast (ABC) Open project "What's your greatest fear?" It's only a 2 minute read, it's funny, it's real and yes, the photo was our "bedroom in the carport". I'd love to hear what your greatest fear is too. By facing our fears we become empowered and see that they're really not that bad. There were other great stories at the workshop which leads me to thinking of Christmas presents that will be remembered.

Have you thought of a photo book of memories, a love letter like no other or a surprise "48 hrs of fun activities". Use your imagination and you'll find you don't need much money to show someone you care. Of course you could scroll the YMM blog or even buy the book (for older people) that Justin Herald said "was a great read!". For younger ones there's

So until 2015 may the song of 1000 birds fill your head, the smell of great cooking fill your nostrils and the joy of living truthfully fill your heart. If that's too soppy (though I liked it), then may you eat, drink and be merry without blowing the budget (too much ;-)

Until next time, stay healthy, happy & wealthy, inside & out!

Fitness Tips (with more on the blog)

For the Mind:
This festive season do you need to ask for or give forgiveness? This doesn't mean excusing bad behaviour. It means processing feelings so the negative burden is released (not always easy, believe me)! But if frustration is not expressed approriately (ie the right amount at the right person at the right time) it can turn into anger and then hate. Remember though that hate destroys the vessel that holds it and sometimes we have to forgive ourselves first. So this festive season perhaps the best gift you can give is that of forgiveness ;-)

For the Body: Prevention is better than the cure so take a Berrocca before the beer and wine - it works for me!

For the Wallet:  Write down in your diary or on the calendar when your January and February credit card bill is due. If you don't pay it in full realise that 2015 is an opportunity to change that. You have at least 2 months. The latest blog entry (Safe spending for mental health) and other tips to help you do this can be found here. The first entry in 2009 is a good place to start LOL

And as usual, our recommended resources can be found here and my alter ego (Your Money Mistress) has her book available here.
